Independent Living Units

Ayre Manor has 18 independent living units in a bachelor, studio or one-bedroom configuration, each with a full kitchen, living room and bathroom.

• Bachelor suites combine kitchen, living and bedroom spaces.
• Studio suites have a dividing wall, but no door, between bedroom and living spaces.
• Free laundry facilities and storage space are available on site.

As of September 2022, the Sooke Elderly Citizens Housing Society no longer has an affiliation with BC Housing, so no longer maintains a waitlist for Independent Living Units. When a vacancy becomes available, we will post it on this website, so that individuals may apply as they would for any other rental. (This does not apply to any arrangements you may have with Island Health regarding placement in either the Assisted Living or Complex Care units at Ayre Manor.)

• daytime phone number
• email address
• two references; each with:
  • full name
  • daytime phone number
  • email address
  • relationship to you
• proof of income or financial stability, such as a recent bank statement

Please also note:

• You will be asked for a criminal record check in order to be accepted.
• You will be asked for the contact information of an individual to call in case of emergency.

Other Considerations:

LIMITED INTERVIEWS
We regret we will only be able to interview a few people for this unit. If you do not hear from us within 5 business days from the application deadline, please assume you will not be considered at this time.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
We have no affiliation with BC Housing, so any provincial assistance for disability or low income must be applied for independently by you.

NO CONNECTION TO ASSISTED LIVING OR COMPLEX CARE
Living in our Independent Living Units does not create an advantage when trying to get a spot in the Assisted Living or Complex Care units at Ayre Manor. They are totally separate entities.
