Accreditation of Ayre Manor
Sooke Elderly Citizens’ Housing Society is proud to announce that effective March 2024, Ayre Manor is now Accredited with Exemplary Standing through Accreditation Canada.
Ayre Manor is committed to the quality care and safety for our residents and to continually improving our services. We participate in accreditation with Accreditation Canada to learn what we're doing well and what we can improve. By having external surveyors assess our services against national standards, we are better able to focus our efforts. Everyone at Ayre Manor is involved in accreditation, from residents and families to front-line staff and volunteers to our board members.
2018: Accreditation Canada Primer
In 2018, we obtained our Accreditation Canada Primer level, in which organizations are assessed against a reduced, core set of standards. Once accredited with Primer, organizations begin preparing for the next accreditation cycle.
2019-2021: Qmentum Program
In the fall of 2019, we commenced the ambitious journey of participating in the Qmentum Program. We wanted to move Ayre Manor toward the highest standards in quality care. This meant that we were reviewed in great detail in every aspect of our organization covering over 500 standards. This resulted in some policies, procedures and training being updated and/or introduced. Our team worked together towards meeting the standards and improving our procedures where identified. Our virtual survey occurred November 2020. Because of covid the on-site portion was delayed to March 2021.
We were pleased to announce that our final Accreditation Report in March 2021 stated that Ayre Manor was Accredited with Commendation.
2021-2024: Qmentum Long-Term Care Accreditation
We commenced the next level of accreditation, Qmentum Long-Term Care, in the fall of 2021 and completed it in March 2024. This level included standards in the following 6 areas:
- Governance and Leadership
- Delivery of Care
- Emergency and Disaster Management
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Medication Management
- Residents' Care Experience
Celebrating a Milestone!
We are extremely pleased and proud to announce that the final report by the Accreditation Decision Committee states that: Ayre Manor is Accredited with Exemplary Standing — the highest designation. This is a milestone to be celebrated!
The accreditation process reduces peaks of intense pressure in one year and spreads assessment activities over the course of a 3-4 year cycle, establishing continuous quality improvement.
